Proof

The first book I read involving a black hole was Fred Saberhagen's Berserker. He called it a hypermass. I wondered way back then how we could ever see them if they allowed no light to escape. Well, now I know.
This is a Hubble photograph of a dwarf galaxy (a very compact galaxy in which the night sky on any planet would show a million stars (we see about 4,000 on a very clear night)).
